DARPA wants to develop gigabit speed radios

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency wants to develop radio networks that operate at the speeds of fiber-optic circuits -- 100 gigabits per second.

This might be one of the toughest challenges DARPA faces, as current advanced cellular networks transmit data at the rate of 5-12 megabits per second and high speed Army tactical radio networks top out around two megabits per second.

DARPA would like to hear from folks with good ideas on the subject at a Jan. 9, 2013, conference at the System Planning Corporation in Arlington, Va.
