App will aid inaugural attendees

As you might have guessed ... there’s an app for that.
The 57th Presidential Inaugural Committee unveiled the first-ever official inauguration smartphone app this week for iOS and Android platforms. It connects users with almost every inauguration-related event over the next few days.
"This inauguration is a celebration of the American people," said Steve Kerrigan, President and CEO of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, in a statement. "That's why we've designed our app to make sure folks across this country don't miss a moment of history. Whether you're in Washington DC or any other part of the nation, there are plenty of ways to be involved in the inauguration through this app."
The app is useful for people on the ground in the Washington, D.C. area, with a maps feature that allows a user to find entrances, portable toilets and the large view screens.
Users around the country can use the app to look up and RSVP for National Day of Service events in their local communities with a search feature that filters events by topic.
Other app features include a full schedule of official White House events, up-to-date news about official inaugural events and access to official photography and video content.
The app synchs with social media platforms and with e-mail to enhance content sharing.
“This is the first official smartphone app built for a presidential inauguration,” said Nate Lubin, Digital Director for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. “We wanted to build a tool that will enable us to reach new people in new ways. This app does just that.”
