Air Force Lays Out $20,000 for Hot Air Recruiting
In Albuquerque, as opposed to Washington, hot air is valued.
Shutdown or not, the Air Force still needs recruits, and it still views the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, which started Oct. 5 and runs through Oct. 13, as fertile ground for new enrollees.
The Air Force 367th Recruiting Squadron said 740,000 people attend the Fiesta – the largest balloon event in the world, covered by 133 media outlets – which makes its investment in a $20,000, 110-by-40 foot booth at the Fiesta worthwhile.
In fact, the Recruiting Squadron said not participating in the event would mean ignoring a key target demographic as well as “influencers in the communities we service….”
