VA Taps Twitter Researcher for Digital Media Geek Dream Team

Mark Trammell helped build software for Obama’s reelection campaign.

The Veterans Affairs Department said it has signed on Mark Trammell, who worked as a senior design researcher at Twitter from 2009 to 2012, as a volunteer Designer-in-Residence for its Digital Media Team.

Trammel, a Navy veteran who helped build the software that powered President Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012, will join the effort to improve veterans on-line experience with VA, the department said.

Now director of user experience research at Wi-Fi speaker company Sonos, Inc, Trammell will make recommendations and help find creative ways to enhance VA online properties, the department said.

Trammel joins other private sector leaders participating in VA’s In Residence program, including Craigslist founder Craig Newmark, the department’s official “Nerd-in-Residence.
