Marines Again Eye Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
The service considered using a thin client architecture to cut expenses two years ago.
The Marine Corps Systems Command last week asked for industry input on development of a virtual desktop infrastructure -- thin clients -- for classified networks able to support up to 8,000 users connected to four regional nodes.
The Marines first considered use of virtual desktops in January 2012 and the latest notice to industry looks like a re-run.
Responses are due Jan. 20.
