A health IT success story. Janda designed and implemented an Integrated Health Information System that serves 55,000 Coast Guard beneficiaries and uses commercial, government and open-source tools. The initiative will save the Coast Guard an estimated $10 million in the first five years. It has been so successful that the State Department signed an agreement with the Coast Guard to share the solution so that health care practitioners at State's Office of Medical Services can access the records of Defense Department and Department of Veterans Affairs personnel during care.
