Postal possibilities. Williams does more than sniff out waste, fraud and abuse as inspector general at USPS. He is also playing a key role in leading the U.S. Postal Service into the Digital Age. He completed a series of reports in 2013 that assessed opportunities for the largest civilian agency to expand into non-postal products and services at a time when electronic tools are rapidly replacing traditional mail as the primary means of communication. Williams identified several areas in which USPS could provide valuable public services, such as Internet access, notary services and check cashing, and he advised USPS to develop strategies around those possibilities.
