Tax manager. When Office of Management and Budget Controller Danny Werfel was detailed to lead the IRS, he selected Maloy as a key deputy. She was a seasoned career executive and had served as commissioner of the IRS' Large Business and International Division for more than three years. Among her new challenges was stabilizing the beleaguered Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division, which was reeling from allegations that it had used politically charged criteria to screen applications for tax-exempt status. Using IT and Lean Six Sigma management techniques, Maloy helped streamline the application process and speed up initial determinations.
