NASA Awards Flurry of Contracts for IT Services Under SEWP V

The winning vendors reveals a who’s-who of IT defense contractors.
NASA has a host of new vendors to buy IT services from, after awarding 56 contracts to more than 40 companies under the latest version of its Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement, known as SEWP.
Announced Oct. 1, SEWP V is the fifth generation of the multiaward governmentwide acquisition contract. This particular iteration has a total value of up to $10 billion over the next decade.
NASA staggered its SEWP V vendor and contract announcements. The Oct. 1 announcement covered two subcategories: Group A, for computer-based systems, and Group B, for networking, security, video and conference tools.
Over the next few days, NASA is expected to announce additional winners for other services, including high-end scientific and engineering processing capabilities.
Through SEWP V, any NASA center – as well as any federal agency and their contractors – can order services with a minimum value of $25. Each contract will have an ordering period of up to 10 years, with a five-year base that extends to Oct. 31, 2019, and a single five-year option that could extend it through 2024.
A quick glance at the winning vendors reveals a who’s-who of IT defense contractors, including IBM, Dell, HP, General Dynamics, Unisys and several others.
