DHS Looking for Data Privacy Experts
DHS' Privacy Office is looking for 17 applicants for 3-year terms
The Department of Homeland Security is recruiting new members for its Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.
The committee advises the DHS secretary and the department's chief privacy officer about DHS policy on personally identifiable information and the integrity of DHS' data, according to a Federal Register notice scheduled for publication Wednesday.
DHS' Privacy Office is looking for 17 applicants, each to be appointed by the secretary, for 3-year terms. They should have experience in fields including data protection, privacy and cybersecurity, according to the notice.
The committee must include people currently working in higher education, state and local governments and nonprofits, as well as those working in the private sector, at least one of whom should have experience with the data privacy issues facing small and medium businesses.
Though the committee serves purely an advisory purpose, it may also conduct studies and inquiries with the private sector or other government entities. The group usually hosts two public meetings a year.
