TRANSCOM wants help with IT management

WHAT: U.S. Transportation Command is looking for advice on acquiring and managing IT. A request for proposals is expected to come on or around Dec. 4.
WHY: Transportation Command, which runs the logistics of the Pentagon's sprawling worldwide footprint, wants access to research and advice on the "most effective and efficient application, acquisition and management of IT resources," according to a pre-solicitation notice.
The interest comes from TRANSCOM's directorate for command, control, communications and cyber systems (C4S), which is responsible for handling those functions for TRANSCOM Commander Gen. Darren McDew and his staff. The directorate is also in charge of ensuring interoperability for major transportation C4S across the Defense Department.
Access to analysis of all IT areas is "essential" for the command, including "emerging trends and technologies, vendors' new offerings, and vendor financial performance," the notice states.
The acquisition will be a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable source selection.
