Your Ford Focus might focus on other driver's information.
Self-driving cars aren't the only technology Ford is working on. The automaker recently filed a patent for a technology that would crowdsource vehicle identification.
The system would be included in a Ford vehicle and could obtain an image of another vehicle's plates and identify the characters on it. That tag would then be checked against a database of sought after license plates. Then, if there's a match, the system would report it.
If this tech was widely implemented, evening rush hour would include constant scanning of many license plates. Ford is also looking into ways of monetizing the technology.
