Winter is upon us, and some parts of the country have already seen snowstorms. Thankfully, there are some new gadgets that can help people prepare for blizzards, or any other emergency situation.
The Ampware iPhone case has a hand crank on the back that generates power to keep your phone charged when the power goes out. Two minutes of cranking is enough for an emergency phone call, while 10 minutes of cranking translates to about 2 hours of extra battery life. No amount of cranking will bring back the Wi-Fi, however.
Once your phone is charged, Google's new app Trusted Contacts is a great way to keep in touch with loved ones and share your location during an emergency situation.
Another useful tool during a power outage, the Zerohour Relic SR tactical flashlight gives off up to 1,000 lumens. This flashlight is also waterproof and has a battery that can charge via USB port, meaning you won't have to stock up on quite so many AA batteries.
