The Government Accountability Office recently dismissed protests against the Alliant 2 governmentwide contracting vehicle. The reason it's such a big deal?
'"It's all about the Benjamins," said Nextgov 's Frank Konkel, who recently discussed the issue on "Government Matters."
The contract will be in use for the next 10 years and $65 billion are at stake. What's more important though is how this will shape contracting in the future.
"I think this will be, and a lot of the analysts I've talked with too, think this is a huge decision—it's almost been undersold," Konkel said. "You can see a big change here in the next five years or so in how contracts are awarded."
