He helped the agency achieve a near-perfect Federal Information Security Management Act score in 2017 while publishing 20 policies related to IT modernization and security. His work was so respected within the Department of Homeland Security that other components copied his approach, and he is credited with helping to initiate similar standardization of cybersecurity efforts across the department. "My staff knows where we're going, and in terms of empowering them, I do my best to give them the resources to accomplish the plan and get to the vision," Nally said.
