Fitbit Using Google Cloud to Make Your Data Available to Doctors

You won't be able to lie about your exercise habits anymore.
That Fitbit you've been wearing on your wrist to count your steps might soon be providing data directly to your doctor.
Fitbit announced Monday it would be partnering with Google to use the Google Cloud Healthcare API to connect user data to electronic health records. Fitbit's 25 million active users will be able to share data with their health care providers while Google may be able to find further insights using its machine learning.
"Working with Google gives us an opportunity to transform how we scale our business, allowing us to reach more people around the world faster, while also enhancing the experience we offer to our users and the health care system,” said Fitbit CEO James Park.
Google introduced its Cloud for Healthcare program in March, but Fitbit won't be the first organization that takes part. The company has previously partnered with the Stanford School of Medicine.
"We hope that by helping them take advantage of our highly secure platform and support for open standards, we can bring better health to more people around the world." wrote Google in a blog post on Monday.
