Getting government to look ahead. Givens led two roundtable discussions that brought together experts from government, industry, academia, the nonprofit sector and Capitol Hill to influence the development of reports on artificial intelligence and ways to improve lawmakers’ technology expertise. The Government Accountability Office used those insights to revamp its technology office, and lawmakers have introduced several bills in line with the group’s findings to revive the Office of Technology Assessment. Givens’ leadership was credited with helping to “frame an issue really effectively for maximum impact for a very high-level audience,” said Dan Chenok, executive director of the IBM Center for the Business of Government.
