Cummings oversees the $9 billion program to deploy DOD’s modernized electronic health record, MHS Genesis, to support 9.5 million service members, veterans and their families. She orchestrated a partnership among DOD, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Coast Guard to adopt the single EHR. Her efforts will maximize the use of shared services and increase MHS Genesis’ capabilities by 30 percent, ultimately transforming health care delivery for the federal government. After the EHR was deployed to four fielding sites, use of DOD’s and VA’s interoperability tool tripled.
