GSA Announces New Deputy Chief of Staff

LaFondra Lynch is the General Services Administration’s new deputy chief of staff, the agency announced Monday. She was appointed July 8. 

Lynch most recently served as chief of staff for GSA’s Public Buildings Service. In her new role, she’ll support GSA Administrator Emily Murphy and Chief of Staff Robert Borden in planning and executing the agency’s strategic initiatives and priorities. 

“LaFondra has done an excellent job as our PBS chief of staff and she brings a strong set of management, organizational, and strategic skills to our leadership team,” Murphy said in a statement. 

At PBS, Lynch helped manage more than 5,300 employees and a budget of almost $10 billion. Before that, she also served as chief of staff for GSA’s Region 4, where she supported nine regional programs with planning and oversight. 

Prior to her service at GSA, Lynch served in various roles at the Justice Department, including regional public information officer. She holds a doctoral degree in management from the University of Maryland University College, as well as a master’s degree in government from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree from Towson University. 

Lynch is also a graduate of the DOJ Leadership Excellence and Achievement Program.

The new deputy was highlighted in a GSA tweet celebrating Women’s History Month earlier this year, where she said she was proud to have the chance to empower others through her role as a public servant. 

“In doing so, I am helping them reach their professional goals while advancing the mission of the agency,” she said.
