Cloud catalyst. Catanoso spearheads the aggressive goal of moving over 350 applications to the VA Enterprise Cloud by 2024. In 2019, his office migrated many mission-critical systems from on-premises and external data centers, enhancing VA's ability to serve veterans while significantly reducing costs. He tirelessly advocated for coalitions across the VA that could build consensus on this massive cloud initiative, which required a paradigm shift in the way the OIT operates. Catanoso's office has projected over $5 billion in cost avoidance after all systems have migrated. The results are more agile, scalable, secure and cost-effective services for veterans and significant progress for the agency on digital transformation and modernization.
