API guy. Myklegard’s approach to creating application programming interfaces to tie together legacy systems and achieve mission goals at the VA has gone public in a significant way. Project Lighthouse allows approved developers to build applications based on the VA’s health data. In 2019, the effort scored a big win when Apple began offering veterans the ability to access and incorporate their VA health records and information into the Health app for iPhone. Myklegard’s leadership has kicked off a cultural shift at the VA, where many are now looking for ways to use APIs in their program areas.
