Library of Congress
Defender of records. The Library of Congress is the world's largest library, Congress' research arm and one of the nation's oldest cultural institutions. For years, however, it has suffered from ineffective security controls and outdated technology. Conklin tackled those challenges by centralizing and reinvigorating IT security, enhancing digital capabilities, guaranteeing continuity of operations and making it easier for Americans to connect with the institution. She also bolstered IT security monitoring, addressed vulnerabilities of legacy systems and created a layered risk management approach. Thanks to her leadership, the library's IT systems are far more stable and better protected against future cyberthreats.
