The silo buster. For all the progress of recent years, government’s internal barriers to innovation are often still deeply rooted and remarkably numerous. That makes Patel’s accomplishments all the more impressive. In 2019, she developed and led training sessions on innovative acquisitions and emerging technologies for over 350 Defense Department and Intelligence Community general officers and other government leaders. As a direct result of her efforts, more than 100 minimum viable products are active in DOD today. Patel built and continues to support a cross-government community that is working to leverage private-sector practices and products to solve their organizations’ toughest challenges.
