*** The General Services Administration released a request for proposals for its planned small business IT contracting vehicle Polaris, the replacement for the cancelled $15 billion Alliant2 SB contract. Polaris consists of three multiple-award, indefinite quantity/indefinite delivery contracts aimed at qualified small businesses, women-owned small business and HUBZone vendors.
*** An inspector general report found that the U.S. Postal Service did not effectively manage an IT operations contract with Accenture, and increased the contract ceiling from $750 million to $1.95 billion "without evaluating competitive pricing for these services." The contract was initially awarded in 2009 with a base period of three years and four two-year options. The USPS OIG report pegged the monetary impact of the mismanagement of the contract at $165 million.
