Senate Confirms Robin Carnahan to Lead GSA

She worked for the agency during the previous administration.
President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the General Services Administration, Robin Carnahan, was confirmed by the Senate Wednesday in a voice vote.
Carnahan is familiar with the agency she’ll now run. She served as the director of the State and Local Government Practice she founded within 18F, a technology consultancy within GSA, from 2016 to 2020. Before her position in the federal government, Carnahan served as Missouri secretary of state from 2005 to 2013.
“I am grateful for the support of the Senate, and I am honored to serve as the next Administrator of GSA,” Carnahan said in a statement. “GSA is at the heart of creating a government that effectively delivers for the people and taxpayers, and I am committed to doing all I can to support that important mission.”
GSA and its nearly 12,000 employees manage the government’s property and buildings and additionally operates numerous technology, procurement and shared services. The agency also oversees approximately $75 billion in annual contracts.
