*** The Department of Homeland Security hit reset on a $100 million contract for a cloud infrastructure contract to support Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Washington Technology reports. DHS and ICE cancelled the solicitation after protests by Oracle and one of its major resellers objected to the requirement that bidders offer Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
*** Since COVID-19 immunizations have become widely available in the U.S., many states have looked to "vaccine passports," or credentials that digitally store an individual’s official vaccination record on a smartphone that can be used as proof that the holder has received a COVID immunization. GCN takes a look at state vaccine passport initiatives as well as measures that block use of such apps.
*** President Biden made two appointments last week to the Court of Federal Claims which hears bid protest and other contracting cases. Armando O. Bonilla, a longtime attorney and an executive at Capital One bank was selected for the court along with Carolyn N. Lerner, currently chief circuit mediator for the U.S. Courts of the D.C. Circuit and former head of the Office of Special Counsel.
