Collaboration in a time of COVID. Hurt led the engineering team that designed and deployed the Commercial Virtual Remote environment, which provided more than 1 million DOD users with Office 365 collaboration capabilities within 30 days and preserved military force readiness while enabling nearly total telework. With a team of fewer than 10 people, Hurt devised custom provisioning scripts (surpassing Microsoft’s record of user accounts provisioned per day), a holistic security approach that integrates DOD cyber defense with commercial tools that leverage artificial intelligence, and the first-of-its-kind tailoring of certain features and functions to meet DOD’s security requirements.
