*** AT&T won a $298 million task order on the Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract to supply virtual private networks to the U.S. Coast Guard. The award was made on Aug. 26. The Defense Information Systems Agency at the Department of Defense executed the procurement on behalf of the USCG, according to contracting documents.
*** A group of technology trade associations told Congress that breach notification legislation should provide for a 72-hour period for alerting government agencies and apply only to breached entities and not third-party providers. The trade groups want to limit reporting to confirmed breaches and not "near-misses" and to harmonize reporting requirements across agencies. The Information Technology Industry Council, the Cyber Threat Alliance, the Cyber Coalition and the Software & Information Industry Association were among the signers of the letter.
