Kang led Brillient’s response to a call from the Small Business Administration for help in providing Economic Injury Disaster Loans to businesses that were harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic. To meet the demand, SBA asked Brillient to add 500 loan processors in one week. Kang immediately launched an “all hands on deck” effort to source, interview and qualify over 1,000 candidates in one week and another 1,000 the following week. As a result, Brillient added about 500 loan processing professionals, which Kang organized into mini-teams that operate in a flat, decentralized model so each can optimize the performance and quality of its work.
