Video: Getting a More Tactile Virtual Reality Experience
This is what the new Oculus Touch and Rift feel like.
The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset has been making waves for the past few years, and it will soon be in the hands of consumers as it becomes available for purchase in 2016.
The latest iteration of the device is lighter weight, features a 3-D audio system and can connect to your PC.
The company Oculus VR recently added another exciting feature: Oculus Touch, a virtual reality controller that makes the experience more tactile.
"It feels like you're dipping your hands into a virtual space," said Scott Stein, senior editor at CNET.
For now, the devices are used just for a fun and immersive gaming experience, but the technology could soon have practical applications for the Defense Department, such as simulations of battlefield conditions.
