Video: How NASA Tech is Used to Predict Landslides

NASA technology is used to save lives here on Earth.
While NASA is most famous for its missions in the farthest reaches of space, the agency also turns its attention and uses its technology to help planet Earth.
NASA is taking on a life-saving big data project, updating the first public catalogue of rainfall-induced landslides from around the world.
Since 2007, roughly 6,000 landslides have killed more than 20,000 people. NASA hopes the catalogue data, produced from various databases and media reports, combined with rainfall measurements taken by NASA satellites will help predict future landslides and save lives.
