The ISS Has Made its 100,000th Orbit of Earth

That's a lot of frequent flyer miles.
On May 16, the International Space Station passed its 100,000th orbit around planet Earth. The first portion of the station was launched 17 years ago. It continues to travel at 17,500 miles per hour and it makes those orbits around the world in just 90 minutes.
Here's some numbers to put in perspective just how far the space station has traveled:
The ISS is also a testament to international cooperation: Over 220 astronauts from 18 different countries have called the station their home.
