Every new technology developed to the public inevitably inspires fear and worries about repercussions.
Some worry virtual reality, which has incredible potential as an education tool, will drastically increase social isolation. Others fear the physical health effects of wireless technologies, and whether they increase the risk for cancer. Thankfully, the U.S. National Cancer Institute has debunked the latter theory that radio and cellular waves cause cancer, so we can continue streaming, texting and catching Pokemon.
Robots are considered an imminent threat, thanks to science fiction, but we are nowhere near sentient robots that plan to kill us all. Instead, our highly intelligent bots are more cute than scary.
