Video: NASA Scientists and Astronauts Take on San Diego Comic-Con

Separating science fiction from science fact.
While the annual San Diego Comic-Con International usually showcases the stars and writers of science fiction, this year, NASA scientists, engineers and astronauts spoke at the convention's infamous Hall H.
They spoke about upcoming missions, as well as how science fiction like "Star Trek" shaped their career paths.
"I think one of the biggest things that we do at NASA — and as human beings in general is pushing the boundaries," said Amber Straughn, an astrophysicist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. "We are looking to go beyond what's capable right now. And I think that's common to not only what we're doing at NASA but to science fiction."
The scientists and engineers speaking at the conference also emphasized the importance of reaching out to younger generations who might one day work for NASA.
"Every time we have the opportunity to talk, to spend time with young kids, we recognize that we may be talking with the next person that designs the rocket that gets us to Mars, or the person that actually sets foot on Mars," NASA astronaut Kjell Lindgren said.
