A vehicle for the people.
When it comes to self-driving cars, most automakers are focusing on the research, development and testing phase of the emerging technology.
Hyundai, however, is hoping to leapfrog ahead to solve the more practical and economic problems with driverless vehicles.
The company demonstrated a prototype autonomous version of its Ioniq hatchback at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. By using an existing car model, Hyundai hopes to create a self-driving vehicle at a price point affordable to the average buyer.
