Intel Introduces an Extreme Processor

Are you doing some multitasking on the computer and need some extreme computing power? Well, you're in luck.

Intel recently introduced at the Computex technology show in Taipai a new series of processors known as the X-series. And X stand for extreme.

For the basic processors in the series that have 4 to 10 cores, Intel claims up to 10 to 15 percent faster performance over previous models. But Intel's upcoming top-of-the-line processor boasts a whopping 18 cores.

These processors are not for the typical computer user. But for people editing video, compiling code, running a virtual reality system or just generally need to run multiple power-eating programs at once, these extreme processors are ideal.

Be prepared to shell out some cash for this kind of computing power. Cost estimates go up to $2,000.
