The software company said it is the first provider to deliver a true commercial cloud that has received Top Secret accreditation with platform- and software-as-a-service capabilities for the intelligence community.

Software company Salesforce announced on Monday that it has rolled out a new version of its government cloud that has Top Secret authorization and is geared toward U.S. national security agencies and intelligence organizations.

The new offering, called Government Cloud Premium, is hosted on Amazon Web Services’ Top Secret cloud.

In a press release, Salesforce said the cloud environment was created with an application programming interface-first architecture so agencies “can take advantage of other data and systems — including proprietary artificial intelligence applications — to advance the mission.”

Bill Pessin, senior vice president for Salesforce National Security, told Nextgov/FCW that the company is “the first to deliver a true commercial cloud that is Top Secret accredited” with platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service capabilities for the U.S. intelligence community.

Salesforce said the new cloud offering allows the intelligence community to “swiftly build and configure user-friendly cloud applications with no code and low code” that can be modified depending on specific operations. The company also said Government Cloud Premium is built on its zero trust model to help agencies safeguard their data from threats.

“Government Cloud Premium and its accreditation to operate at the Top Secret level brings innovation from Salesforce which can help the [intelligence community] modernize their operations and gain the technological capabilities they need to move at mission speed,” Pessin said.

Salesforce also offers other cloud environments — such as Government Cloud Plus and Government Cloud Plus - Defense — that are used by federal agencies and comply with FedRAMP high security standards.
