McConnell International Sold

Bruce McConnell has sold the federal consulting firm McConnell International LLC, which he founded in 2000 after leaving government. Clinton Rubin LLC, based in Philadelphia, bought the firm for an undisclosed sum. The purchase will give Clinton Rubin its first presence in the Washington, D.C., market.

McConnell, who served three presidents as an adviser on national information society issues, said he sold the firm to focus more on collaboration management and cybersecurity. "I felt like I wanted to do other things," he said. "I enjoyed creating and growing a successful company."

McConnell left government after directing the International Y2K Cooperation Center, which was established under the auspices of the United Nations and World Bank. The center coordinated the work of more than 170 governments, private firms and organizations in a global human and electronic network that worked on solutions to fix computers for the Y2K bug. McConnell also served as chief of information and technology policy at the Office of Management and Budget.
