More on Obama's Tech Edge

Many information technology professionals both in and out of government believe an Obama administration would boost investments in IT to improve government service and create more transparency. They point to how technology helped the Obama campaign raise a record amount of money and how it organized and mobilized grass-roots volunteers to register voters and to, presumably, get the vote out. Here's another recent article, this one coming from The New York Times Caucus Blog, on how the Obama campaign uses text messaging to recruit and deploy volunteers where needed. From the article:

“Text messaging is a very important tool for us,” said Chris Hughes, the Obama campaign’s director of online organizing and an inventor of Facebook. “It’s the primary means of communication we have with lots and lots of supporters, and it has proven to be very effective.”
