Time to Reassess Data Mining

CNet News blogger Declan McCullagh writes about a new study from the National Research Council on whether data mining works to identify and flag terrorists. According to McCullagh, data mining just gives too many false positives to make it reliable. The authors of the report recommend agencies follow some steps to improve data mining results:
