Time's Up on Cyber Review

An interagency group is in the process of submitting to President Obama the findings and recommendations that resulted from a 60-day review of the federal government's cybersecurity initiatives. the study came to a close on April 17.

Some of the results won't come as any surprise. Two officials revealed this month plans to recommend to the president that that the White House coordinate all cyber efforts and address the more than 250 cybersecurity requirements identified.

Still, how the recommendations will shape the Obama administration's cybersecurity program largely remains to be seen.

The White House press secretary released the following statement Tuesday:

On Feb. 9, the president directed a 60-day review of the plans, programs and activities underway throughout the government that address our communications and information infrastructure (i.e., cyberspace). The purpose of the review is to develop a strategic framework to ensure that our initiatives in this area are integrated, resourced and coordinated appropriately, both within the executive branch and with Congress and the private sector. Today, the interagency group undertaking the review concluded its work and is now in the process of submitting its findings and recommendations for the President's review.
