Warner Introduces DATA Act in the Senate

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., on Thursday introduced the Senate version of legislation aimed at creating a single oversight board for federal spending data, which would be posted on a single website.

The Act appears to be identical to companion legislation Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., introduced Monday in the House called the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act.

President Obama implemented many ideas from the legislation in a less sweeping way in an executive order, also issued on Monday. Issa has stressed that his legislation is meant to complement White House actions, not compete with them.
