OMB to Combine Mobile Roadmap and Web Reform Strategies
Federal information technology leaders plan to combine two major policy documents due out soon into one -- the federal mobility strategy and a plan to consolidate and reform federal websites.
"The CIO and his team are currently developing a strategy for creating a 21st century digital government that will address web reform and mobility across the federal enterprise," a spokeswoman for the office said Tuesday. "It will be released for further public input and feedback once complete."
Politico's Morning Tech first reported the discussions Tuesday, citing an interview with Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Chief Information Officer Rick Holgate.
Consolidating the documents is a reasonable plan, former federal IT official Alan Balutis told Nextgov Tuesday, as they focus on broadly similar areas.
Balutis is a former chief information officer at the Commerce Department and now a director at Cisco's Internet Business Solutions Group.
