Thanksgiving Turkey With All the Digital Stuffing
Federal apps, websites and social media channels will work through the holiday.
Thanksgiving is a holiday for most federal workers, but some of the government’s mobile apps, websites and social media channels won’t be getting a break.
The mobile version of the Agriculture Department’s Ask Karen food safety advice website will mark its third Thanksgiving helping hapless chefs this year. The agency launched a Spanish-language version of the mobile site in 2012.
On Tuesday the Web version of Ask Karen was filled with answers to Thanksgiving questions, including how long you can keep a turkey in the freezer and how long it takes to thaw a ham.
Thanksgiving travelers and those greeting them can also check out flight delays on the Federal Aviation Administration website and look at crowdsourced security line wait times on the Transportation Security Administration’s MyTSA app.
The White House is once again inviting citizens to vote on which of two turkeys President Obama should pardon on Thanksgiving through Facebook, Twitter and other social media. Though that might not be the reprieve it seems as National Journal reported.
