Three win $490M Air Force deal
Dell Inc., General Dynamics and Northrop Grumman will provide a new communications infrastructure when aircraft and personnel deploy overseas.
An industry team consisting of Dell Inc., General Dynamics Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. received a contract worth up to $490 million from the Air Force to provide a new communications infrastructure when its aircraft and personnel deploy overseas.
The Air Force plans to buy equipment to support 181 integrated communications access packages, 148 network control centers and 140 satellite communications terminals. The service wants the information technology solution to increase data capacity and sharing and decrease logistics support, said a July 29 Defense Department statement.
The Air Force has already awarded $20 million under the contract. The service will complete the procurement by July 2009, the DOD contracts' statement said.
