Sprint has added PCS handsets to its list of telecommunications offerings
available through Sprint's General Services Administration schedule contract.
Federal customers who order Sprint PCS service with a one-year commitment
through Sprint's GSA schedule contract will receive a pre-negotiated discount
as well as a $50 credit applicable to air time or the purchase of a handset.
Customers will receive a $100 credit for a two-year commitment and a $125
credit for a three-year commitment.
Government customers will have a choice of handsets and accessories
from a variety of manufacturers, including Sprint PCS Wireless Web phones.
Using Sprint's Wireless Web for Business, government employees can access
internal e-mail, agency directories and intranet sites, according to a Sprint
statement.
"Our PCS teammates and a number of our federal customers had expressed
interest, so we thought we'd offer it," said Tony D'Agata, vice president
and general manager of Sprint's Government Systems Division.
Spring also may add PCS handsets to its FTS 2001 contract offerings,
D'Agata said.
