The Defense Information Systems Agency recently awarded a contract to support networks that link training and operations sites in the Pacific region.

Under the Pacific Theater Exercises II (Pactex II) contract, Getronics Government Solutions LLC will provide services and equipment to design, operate and maintain information technology and telecommunications networks.

DISA's Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization-Pacific, which is responsible for the acquisition of IT and telecom services and equipment to support the Defense Department and other federal agencies, awarded the more than $10 million contract on Feb. 11.

The award follows the Pactex contract and is part of a continuing effort to improve domestic and multinational military training exercises while operating within the reduced military budgets of the participating nations, according to a spokeswoman for the Herndon, Va.-based Getronics.

Robert Putes, Getronics' director of Pacific operations, said as the incumbent on the contract, the award "provides continuity" for the DOD customers and an opportunity for the company to expand its presence in the Pacific Rim.
