State taps CSC for IT services

The State Department has awarded a contract to Computer Sciences Corp. to provide information technology and telecommunications services worldwide.

The one-year contract with four one-year options, announced May 14, calls for a wide variety of computer and telecom services to support the agency's systems at more than 200 locations around the world. The total value of the contract is $160 million if all options are exercised.

The contract is part of the agency's efforts to improve its IT capabilities in more than 150 countries.

"The department has made significant progress in its IT program during the past several years, and CSC is proud to be a major participant in that effort," said Joe Keefe, CSC's director of foreign affairs operations, in a press release.

The contract includes a wide and varied team that will provide infrastructure, biometrics, telecom, secure Web design and records management services. Among the vendors are Abacus Technology Corp., Booz Allen Hamilton and Cisco Systems Inc.
