AT&T names new government head

AT&T Government Solutions has named a replacement for former president Chris Rooney, who took over AT&T's entire sales division in a restructuring last month.

Louis Addeo, former vice president of the homeland security and national information systems division for AT&T Government Solutions, will lead the organization, an AT&T spokesman said. The change takes effect June 2.

In his role as vice president, Addeo, a 30-year AT&T veteran, worked most closely with the White House, the State Department and agencies associated with homeland security and the intelligence community.

Before moving to government solutions, Addeo was with the AT&T Solutions unit, where he supported and directed large-scale outsourcing and managed services.

Rooney's promotion came as part of an overall realignment that AT&T officials said will remove redundant layers of management and allow the company to respond more quickly to customer needs. Among other changes, the company unified all of its commercial sales channels into a single sales organization, with Rooney leading.
