Qwest names new federal head

David Peed is the telecom firm's new vice president of government services

Telecom upstart Qwest Communications International Inc. has named David Peed as its new vice president of government services.

The company's Government Services Division is responsible for delivering broadband Internet, voice and image communications to the federal government.

Peed, a five-year veteran of Qwest, will report directly to James Payne, general manager and senior vice president of the Government Services Division. Peed, who previously oversaw Qwest's Defense Department contracts, is now responsible for sales and business development for all federal agencies.

Before joining Qwest, Peed worked for Bell Atlantic and its successor company, Verizon Communications, as an account manager for special programs and the White House. He also has worked for the House of Representatives.
